I had better hurry up and record the summer's events before I forget. Sad, I know, I can't even remember things that were told to me with in a 60 second time frame. Just a couple of months ago I could, but not now, now that I am in my 30's. I'll give it a year before I determine if I am liking my 30's or not. Not to brag, but I don't have much experience with this decade.......
Summer....ya, it's over. Really? Really!! June I was mostly focused on how excited I was to move out of an apartment....forever (forever meaning that if Bryan and I are fortunate enough to not ever have to lose a job, or each other, I can assume we won't ever have to go back to apartment living ever again.) We had found a house.
July went by as equally quick as June. We were very excited to go to our home state, Utah, to visit our family and friends. We thought it would be a brilliant idea to drive in the car, 25 hours, with a dog, and 3 kids. Why did we think we were so smart? Well because we wouldn't have to rent a car for 4 weeks. Because the scenery would be nice. REALLY? Really!!! What could possibly be wrong with my brain...and sense. I would blame it on my 30's, but at the time, I was still 29. So maybe it was my vivacious drive I had in me. That drive was killed sometime after turning 30 and somewhere in Nebraska. In fact, Lincoln to be quite honest, when i realized it was midnight and we needed to get to Omaha. (note to self: never ever again am I to book a hotel room in advance for a road trip across several extremely boring states. EVER) We will never again go home to visit if we can not comfortably afford to fly and rent a car for the time we would like to stay. And that's THAT! On a brighter side, Utah was great. We were able to celebrate Tom and Dorothy's 5oth wedding anniversary. We went to Pineview with the Molen's for 3 days. We had family pictures taken with all of them right before the trip. At the conclusion of the lake trip, we all met up at Maddox in Brigham City for a finale dinner. It was nice to actually spend time with one another with out the distractions of work and home.
Bryan and my sweet sis', Kathy and Kari, put together a fun party for my birthday. It was just the kind of thing that made celebrating perfect. Family and friends. It would have only been better if I could have had all my family and friends there.
We had many cousin outings/play dates while in Utah. I was able to have some girls night's out too. Kevin and Angela took us to the lake so we could get some time on the boat! This is hands down, my very favorite summer thing to do. Ski. tube. lake. love. LOVE! Thank you to them for that!
Utah was a fun time and so many were generous to us with there time, amongst other things. It was a treat to come visit. Hopefully it will be a little more often than it was while Bryan was in school. It is fun to see my kids visit the place that their parents grew up.
When we FINALLY got out of the car and came home, it seemed everything was falling apart. We had one week to get out of our place and into our house. There was still too much packing to be done, it was hot, I was anxious to leave, and school started soon. But, once we got completely out of the old place I was able to relax a bit. We have been enjoying putting the house together and slowly making it our own. The kids love having a yard. I love having space. Space in the kitchen, space from the noise, space to put things. It feels good. Alyssa and I had some fun Mother/Daughter time for back to school shopping and that's about all she needed to get the ball rolling for 3rd grade. I can't believe she is in 3rd grade. Mason is in preschool 3 days a week and enjoying it each time.
This is summer in a nutshell. The world's largest nut, of course. I have so many pictures to post it may be annoying. I never even finished posting on our Disney trip from May, so we will see how I do...posting and all.
